Obituary
Our beloved Gregory Paul Hill passed away on January 17, 2021 at the age of 60 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on December 18, 1960 to Harvey N. Hill and Cornelia M. Klink in Pittsburgh, PA. Greg graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1979 and served in the United States Air Force from 1982 - 1985. One of Greg’s passions in life was cooking and in the 1990’s he graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh. Cooking became his livelihood, and he also blessed his family and friends for years to come with his home-cooked food made with love. In addition to food, Greg was passionate about music. He enjoyed creating mix CDs and playlists for his loved ones and reminiscing over old school music videos. He was a warm and kind-spirited soul whose laugh was infectious.
Greg experienced his share of hard times but his huge heart and resilient spirit always saw him through. He fell in love and married Sheila Vernet Hull in 2000, and she passed away in 2012 after being ill for some time. Soon after, when his father was ailing with Parkinson’s disease and dementia, Greg was there by his side taking care of him when he needed it most. Although at times it was difficult, he often said it was an honor and privilege to be able to be his father’s caretaker. You could always count on Greg to be there for you when you needed him. Greg found love again in 2015 with fiancée Pilar Pigg-ee, and he spent his last years as a loyal and supportive partner to her.
Greg is preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Vernet Hull; his father Harvey Hill; his paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Ruth Hill, and his maternal grandparents, Wil Klink and Hermine Klink; his aunt Mayota Hill; and his uncles Peter Klink and Paul Klink. He leaves to cherish his memory his fiancée Pilar Pigg-ee; mother Cornelia Klink; sisters Dana Hill Robinson and Regina Hill and brother Scott Gibson; uncles Ronald Hill, Sr. and Bert Klink; aunts Willeke Esselink-Klink, Lydia Klink, Loura Huizenga and Fredrika McKain; nephew Noah Woodley and nieces Ravyn and Skylar Woodley; cousins Ronald Hill Jr., Stanley Clark, Rona Hill-Berkhouse, TaTanisha Hill-Guy, Jeffrey Hill, Sekou Hill Sr., Assata Hill, Sundiata Hill, Asha Hill, and Kwame Hill, Yvette Klink, Debbie Klink, Patrik Klink; loving extended family and the many dear friends he made throughout his lifetime. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
