Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Laura Brown Lyons, loving mother, sister, wife, and friend. Laura was a unique and unforgettable soul who dedicated herself to uplifting and empowering others. Dr. Laura faced many challenges growing up under trying circumstances, but because of her indomitable spirit she would not allow her background to define her. Laura left her humble beginnings in Birmingham, Alabama and went on to become an honored academic, award-winning author, social justice champion, world traveler, real estate entrepreneur, and motivational speaking magnate. Despite her numerous accomplishments, Dr. Laura's greatest pride was not in her achievements, but in the many lasting relationships she forged over a lifetime. Although Dr. Laura's time on this earth has passed, her love and generosity will not be forgotten, and the positive impact she made on every heart will go on forever. She is survived by her only child, Kobie Lyons, 4 sisters; Mary Finley (Atlanta Ga), Ida Green (Oakland Ca): Jessica Matthews (Charlotte NC): and Vivian Mills (Stone Mountain GA); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
